Concerning changes in content in your texts, please contact Bob. I have only corrected minor errors like spelling mistakes, no changes in content whatsoever.

Your thesis work
Me and Emma have gone through most of your texts, and we are very pleased to see that in most cases writing has been part of your conceptualization and design process. Well done! Just don’t forget that reference list.
Please mail me the pix, and also one portrait of yourself for the book.
I will be sending back to you the texts as feedback, and for final checking. Don’t change the texts unless we have missed your meaning somehow.

Grand presentation on 26th March, 13.00
The time has come!
Our grand presentation is 26th March, 13.00, possibly in Studio 9 and 10, at Konstfack, as it looks now. I will confirm this as soon as I get things confirmed.

Attention writers!
There is quite a few of you people that have not added references in your texts in an accurate way. You have to use either footnotes or references within the text, put in paranthesis, and at the end, after the proper text, ADD A REFERENCE LIST in alphabetical order based on authors´ names (family name first), with subheading References. Required information: Author, year of publication, title of book/article, publisher and place of publication. Look in printed and published books how it is done, if you are uncertain. This is not fun to do, but you will thank me afterwards for reminding you. This is a service to the reader. It shall be possible to find the books you have referred to in your text. It improves the quality of your work, otherwise it appears careless. Remember that we are making a book here, and are not just producing a few papers that will be put away after the course is completed.
Apart from this, I must say I enjoy reading your work. There is a lot of potential in the group.
I am now proofreading your texts, checking and correcting spelling mistakes and minor grammatical errors. I am not rewriting anything, it is only the most obvious I will attend to.
After that, I will send to Bob, who will forward the material to you for check-up.
Now, when you get your texts back; check them out and ADD REFERENCE LISTS.

Embedded in artery
Click on the image to read more
ScienceDaily (2009-01-19) -- High blood pressure can be a trial of patience for doctors and for sufferers, whose blood pressure often has to be monitored over a long time until it can be regulated. This will now be made easier by a pressure sensor that is inserted in the femoral artery.

On final thesis/essay-writing
Some clearifying notes on your up-coming thesis/essay:
Each student writes individually, 4 pages minimum of text as said before. The text shall in some way be related to your project. The future book is a documentation of the course, in order to be presented to the Arlanda and Central Station - people, to future readers/ employees etc and but it is also a "material memory" of the projects and the course in general. Last and not least it is of course also a piece of design in itself.
If you choose to write a more theoretical or reflecting text associating to aspects of your project, make sure that a presentation of your project and the site you have choosed to work with (Arlanda or Stockholm C) is included. Ideally share some aspects of the working process with us readers, it is fascinating for others to follow your work, both ups and downs, not just focussing on the final results. Make references and add a reference-list in alphabetical order as usual if you choose to make use of written sources.
Remember that your experiences of the site in the beginning of the course, and the workshop-exercises we undertook, are the starting point of the whole design process. It is a good idea to include parts of your early writings in the final text. I like to mention that your critique is valuable material here, and not just some neutral description of the environment at Arlanda etc.
It is important that you use your personal language in the final writing process. Your different backgrounds as designers, artists, curators, craftswomen etc are important, as well as your personal history. To write in a personal way is not the same at to be (too) private. Creative processes involve all your senses, that is why a strictly traditional academic language often seem too narrow in projects like this.
Best of luck with your writing! I look forward to your texts.

Virtual screening
Me and the Ring group had a meeting this morning, and the possiblities of some kind of virtual screening were discussed.
.
High presure clear water (tap water) misting is one option, check out this for the technology.
Stage smoke generator is another option, check out this for the technology. The smoke is non-toxic, and residueless. When the mist or smoke is there, one would need something to contain them. Anything physical is less interesting, so my suggestion was to use some kind of air curtain horizontally to contain them. A possible solution could look like this. I have ordered a test piece of this Super Air Knife of 60 cm long (the width of the knife) for testing. The knife is NOT dangerous to human beings.
.
We will still need an air compressor for this to work, which I will try to get from somewhere. I hope this installation would probablly give a clear-cut, somehow high resolution virtual screen that can be turned on and off in a fraction of a second.

Locative Airport Mobile Phone Game
Very interesting play mechanic — a location-based game that you can basically only play when you’re at any one of a huge list of airports in the world. And, your score (if it’s good enough..) goes up on that airport’s leader board. The only way to play, say — Madrid Barajas International Airport is to go to Madrid Barajas International Airport. You have to physically be at the airport to play and get on that airport’s leader board, get that airport’s “souvenirs” (this game’s equivalent of blue gems), and so forth.

Rafael Lozano-Hemmer
Rafael Lozano-Hemmer's work has been really relevant and inspirational on our group's project. I would like to briefly share a couple of his project's we've found interesting.
"Voz Alta" (Loud Voice) is a memorial commissioned for the 40th anniversary of the student massacre in Tlatelolco. Participants who speak into a megaphone automatically control the brightness of four searchlights that relay their voice over Mexico City as quiet light flashes; tuning into 96.1FM radio allows people anywhere in the city to listen in live to what the lights are saying.
"Pulse Park" is comprised of a matrix of light beams that graze the central oval field of Madison Square Park. Their intensity is entirely modulated by a sensor that measures the heart rate of participants and the resulting effect is the visualization of vital signs, arguably our most symbolic biometric, in an urban scale.
