Jeff Koons made Arlanda

I think that we can all agree that when one is developing site specific art the particularity of the chosen location is of prime importance. This is why I chose to address our class with this assumed understanding. It is under the confines of what capitalism permits that we find ourselves . This is generally the case in many if not most art making situations but in our case the situation has been amplified by the site we are working in.

Arlanda is primarly designed to achieve the maximum economic gains. The Social sciences has evolved along with the airport to become an percision industry. So persise in fact that there is seemingly little space for anything other than an initiative that supports this consumer drivin infastructure. Can we ethically participate within this infastructure? Is it possible to make changes to the infastructure?

An airport mandate is loosely developed to achieve three central goals.
1. Make passengers spend as much as possible. %39
2. To provide a safe environment for commerce. %10
3. Defend the nation from harm full goods or peoples outside of its borders. %40
4. Support tourism industry utilizing culturally specific motifs. %10
5. Create an enjoyable experience. %1

Perhaps from this point we may be able to talk about the airport in these terms in order better answer questions about contemporary artistic practices I airport situations. Could we find quantifiable results to our art product?

Also I found a website on non-places.
